Clarkston, GA — Clarkston Police have a suspect in custody related to the death of a 14-year-old boy.

The victim has been identified on social media as Erasto Ramazan, a member of Kalonji Soccer Academy. He had one older brother and six younger siblings.

On Sept. 3, Clarkston Police responded to the Parc 100 Apartments at 1000 Montreal Road around 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a person shot.

“Once officers arrived, they located an unconscious juvenile male outside the apartment building suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately started performing life saving measures until the arrival of medical services. The juvenile male victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to the injury,” Clarkston Police Sgt. Dustin Bulcher said.

“Officers and detectives immediately started processing the scene. Detectives were able to determine this was not a random act of violence and the victim and suspect are known to each other,” he added.

The victim was a student at Freedom Middle School. Clarkston Police said no further information will be provided about the victim.

The 17-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. The suspect has been arrested and is being housed at the DeKalb County Jail.

“The Clarkston Police Department, Mayor and City Council send our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of the victim during this tragic time,” Bulcher said.

The DeKalb County Police Department helped in the recovery of the firearm within the wood line with K-9 Alex, who located a black backpack containing the firearm, according to the Clarkston and DeKalb Police Departments.

A Go-Fund-Me has been established to help Ramazan’s family.
