Decaturish raises 15% of fundraising goal during first week of fall campaign

Decaturish is in the midst of a fall fundraising campaign. We raised $3,000 in our first week, 15% of our $20,000 goal. To contribute, click here.

The fundraising campaign is helping us the untold stories of your community. The Nov. 8 election will be an important one, not only for Georgia but for the nation. DeKalb County, Georgia’s Blue Wall, will be a key player in determining that election’s outcome. Our Voter’s Guide is coming out on Oct. 1 and will highlight local races that won’t get attention in other publications. Your support makes that possible.

Another ongoing story is our coverage of the DeKalb County School District. At Decaturish, we believe the quality of our local schools will dictate the future of this community. The district should serve all students and when it doesn’t, its leaders should be held accountable. Thanks to your support, we’re doing just that.

There’s the day-to-day coverage that we’ve been doing for years. Thanks to your help, we have reporters at all the important meetings in Decatur, including meetings other media don’t attend, like the Planning Commission and the Decatur School Board. If you see a story about Decatur reported elsewhere, more likely than not, you will have seen it here first. The value of what we do is not lost on our readers. Here’s what they had to say about giving to our fall campaign.

“Decaturish is much appreciated!” — Carol Calvert

“With gratitude for all you do – keep up the great work!” — Patricia Richmond

“I appreciate what you do for the community!” — Virginia Smith

“Very grateful for the care and concern you all put into reporting our local news.” — Jackie

“Thank you for all you do!! Such a critical asset to our community!!” — Paul McLennan

We are so grateful for the support of our readers. We could not do this important work without them.
