Clarkston Police investigate shooting that wounded teenager

Police responded to the call about shots fired at 5:30 p.m., a spokesperson for the police department said. The shooting occurred at the Peachtree Creek on Ponce Apartments, located at 4692 East Ponce de Leon Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area for anyone who may have discharged a firearm,” the spokesperson said. “During this time, officers were also dispatched to 4712 East Ponce De Leon Ave (Appletree Daycare) in reference to a person shot.
“Upon arrival, officers encountered a juvenile victim who had sustained a gunshot wound from the previous address listed above. Officers were able to provide lifesaving medical assistance to the victim until the arrival of DeKalb County medical services. The juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.”
Fox 5 reported that the victim is 14 years old.
“Circumstances surrounding the shooting cannot be released at this time, as this is currently an active and ongoing investigation,” the spokesperson said.
