Readers, thank you so much for stepping up after our recent call to help us meet our fall fundraising goal within the next three weeks.

Within 24 hours of that post, we raised $2,000, putting us $10,000 away from our $25,000 goal. We’re close. Help us get over the finish line by clicking here to make a contribution.

Covering a community the way Decaturish does is resource intensive and complicated. There are the things you see, like the website itself and the articles about various topics, like city commission meetings. Then there are the things you don’t see, like our costs for hosting ads and the website, tech support, website maintenance, insurance, and more. It all adds up, and we depend on our readers to make it work. In particular, we depend on our 2,800 paying monthly subscribers to sustain us, and we need the fall fundraisers to set us up for covering our community in the new year.

We do love the work and want to get beyond simply sustaining what we do so we can continue to grow our coverage. But, first things first, which means ensuring the stability of what we have right now.

You can help us do that by clicking here.

The testimonials people have left on our fundraiser wall have been so encouraging and mean the world to us and our team. Here’s what a few of our supporters have to say:

“I appreciate your shining sunlight on city of Decatur politics and city of Decatur development, traffic, crime, etc. Thanks for the update on the WeWork space, for one example; also, the ATM bomber, pedestrian deaths and shootings inside the City limits, road projects, and many other stories. I like when you aggressively pursue information, use FOIA and other sources, and don’t relent.” – Jack

“Thanks for your hard work. You provide more local news than I can find anywhere else.” — Robert

“Already a subscriber. Best reports of local news, so important in today’s crazy amount of info!” — Meg

“Decaturish is a shining example of local journalism at its finest. Thank you!” — Stacy

“Thank you for your valuable trustworthy local journalism. I read Decaturish every day!” — Elizabeth

“Thank you for keeping us updated on important news in Decatur and excellent writing!” — Kelly
