The Decaturish Fall Fundraiser is ongoing, and we’ve raised $11,000 so far, or 44% of our fundraising goal. We hope to raise $25,000 by Dec. 20.

Stepping away from the day-to-day of what we do so we can make these kinds of fundraising appeals is a challenge for us. Our team really loves doing the work: getting after breaking news stories, breaking down complex issues for our readers, and holding public officials accountable. We often forget that while readers appreciate the coverage, they might not appreciate that there’s a cost to what we do. We’d do it for free if we could, but we can’t.

But with your help, we’re able to continue doing the work, because we love it and because you appreciate it.
