Poetry reading by Nikki Giovanni

February 22 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

Acclaimed poet Nikki Giovanni will read her work at Emory University. Giovanni uses her poetry to raise awareness of social issues, especially gender and race. A professor at Virginia Tech, Giovanni has written many collections of poetry, starting with her first self-published volume “Black Feeling, Black Talk” (1968). She has published more than 20 works of poetry, nonfiction, children’s books, and edited anthologies. Her most recent publications include “Chasing Utopia: A Hybrid” and the children’s poetry book “I Am Loved.” The event is open to the public at no charge. Tickets are not required. Books and broadsides will be sold at the reading, and a signing will follow the event.
