Raise Your Voice YA Panel @ AJC Decatur Book Festival

September 15 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

National Book Award winner Elizabeth Acevedo comes together with four other top YA authors, Becky Albertalli, Aisha Saeed, Renée Watson, and Brendan Kiely for this discussion about making yourself heard and finding your place in the world. Written in verse, Acevedo’s Clap When You Land tells the story of two young women linked by a family secret who have to reconcile their own concept of their place in the world in the face of shocking revelations after a shared tragedy.; Albertalli and Saeed’s co-authored novel Yes No Maybe So centers around two teens’ work for a local political campaign; Watson’s Watch Us Rise is a powerful story of young women carving out a place for themselves; and Kiely’s book Tradition follows two students grappling with the toxic culture of a prestigious private high school. Join this talented, respected group for a conversation about finding your voice, making yourself heard, and the importance of diverse perspectives.
