Back for its 17th year, the Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival will rock back into Oakhurst on Saturday, Aug. 12. The music festival lineup will have “something for everyone,” featuring eight bands with blues, bluegrass, folk, rock and country acts, according to a press release.

“Each year we are fortunate to bring to our fans a great lineup of music, this year we feel the variety of acts and music will offer the festival goer a bit of everything while staying true to our blues and bluegrass roots,” Festival Director Michael Vajda said.

According to their website, the festival, which was founded in 2000 by the Decatur Preservation Alliance (DPA), benefits the Community Center of South Decatur by “supporting educational programs, community events and providing grants to other non-profit groups in the city of Decatur.” Last year, more than 6,000 people attended.

This year’s headlining act is country and bluegrass group Farewell Angelina.

“Named after a Bob Dylan song, Farewell Angelina is an all-female country group with four powerhouse vocalists, dynamic songwriters and badass multi-instrumentalists,” the release said.

This year, they won the fan-voted “Hot Seat” spot of the Taste of Country “RISERS” Program by over 20,000 votes. They’ve also been named among Rolling Stone’s “New Artists You Need to Know,” and Roughstock’s “Ones to Watch,” according to the press release.

Georgia Music Legend Winner Beverly Guitar Watkins will also headline the Sovereign Systems stage, one of the two stages at the festival. Returning acts include The Georgia Flood, Grizzly Goat and Porch Bottom Boys, while the Donna Hopkins Band, Farewell Angelina and the Vista String Band will be new performers.

The schedule is as follows:
