The Friends School of Atlanta (FSA), a Decatur school offering a pre-K through eighth grade program, has appointed a new summer camp director.

According to an FSA press release, Hannah Ellwood, a current fourth grade teacher at FSA, will take up the position for the coming summer. Ellwood has had previous camp experience working for a school summer program, where she supported new counselor training and assisted the summer camp director for many years, FSA said.

“[Ellwood] brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to her new role,” Waman French, head of FSA, said. “We are excited to behold the creativity and organizational skills she has already devoted to putting together this summer’s offerings and to streamlining the registration process.”

Each year, FSA offers STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics)-based camps in technology, environmental science, math, drama and the visual and digital arts. New offerings for 2020 will include sessions in sewing and fashion, instruction in American Sign Language and more, the release said.

The FSA summer camp program includes sessions for children aged 5 to 15 and includes both before care starting at 8:30 a.m. and aftercare that runs to 6 p.m.

Registration for FSA’s camps will open in mid-January. Those interested in registering their children should check the FSA website here for more information and links to registration.
