A consultant for City Schools of Decatur is reviewing the school’s enrollment numbers as the system continues looking for ways to deal with its growing pains.

According to data attached to the agenda for the Board of Education’s regular monthly meeting on Sept. 9, Tom Sayre from Sizemore group is looking over the data. Additionally, the enrollment at schools is being “culled” to remove names of students who registered but didn’t show up for school.

“The enrollment settles by early October,” Superintendent Phyllis Edwards writes.

The current enrollment at CSD remains at 99.2 percent of projections. There are 4,329 students enrolled in the city’s schools.

In August the Decatur City Commission also voted to hire the Sizemore group to for annexation master plan services. City Manager Peggy Merriss said CSD and the city will be working together closely to stay on the same page during the planning process, which will take several months.
