The city wants public feedback on a new comprehensive draft of the plan for the former United Methodist Children’s Home property.

City Commissioners heard a presentation on that plan during a recent work session.

The new draft – along with its accompanying presentation – are now available for public review and comment. With a final draft to be completed in December, community input will help shape the final changes to the plan.

Featuring updates based on public feedback, the most recent draft puts a finer point on the broad ideas that were presented to the community in late June, including recommendations on naming, management, preservation, recreation, housing, public spaces, key partnerships, prioritization and financing.

The plans for the 77-acre property have undergone a number of drafts, a culmination of months of discussions, meetings and feedback. Additionally, the city is still considering what to name the property, with the name “Legacy Park” as a frontrunner.
